PRA was established in 2016.

Our consultants provide services Australia wide. We provide flexible work practices, as well as office space in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra and Melbourne.

We operate in construction, infrastructure, industrial, commercial and residential; for public, private and government clients.

Our Vision is to put trust and exceptional people at the core of managing risks in work, health and safety, environment and  quality.

Nigel Johnson – Managing Director

Nigel is a Licensed Asbestos Assessor and Hygienist with more than 20 years of experience in asbestos, occupational hygiene, environment and health and safety. Nigel has worked in consulting across commercial and residential high rise, gas works, remediation sites, ships/vessels, schools, hospitals, houses, industrial plants and shopping centres in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, TAS, WA, New Zealand and Singapore.

Nigel is a former President and founding member of the Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Consultants Association (AHCA) and also represents AHCA on the Demolition and Asbestos Consultative Committee (DAAC) which includes representatives from EPA, SafeWork NSW, Building Trades Group, Demolition Contractors Association NSW, Asbestos Removalists Contractors Association, CFMEU, Land and Housing Group, Master Builders Association, Waste Recyclers Contractors Association, Unions NSW, Waste Recyclers Contractors Association and Training Services, Department of Industry.

Nigel is a Full Member of AIOH (Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists).

Not only is Nigel a practising professional to his clients, Nigel also helps with not for profits through working groups to help give guidance in the Asbestos and Hazardous Materials space. Currently he is working with government and Industry on Lead Paint / Dust to create guidance material.

Jai Choi – Finance Director

Jai is a Finance Professional with more than 15 years of experience in diverse industries including professional service firms, HVAC wholesale/warehousing and Building materials supply/import businesses.

She worked as management accountant and systems accountant for more than a decade, analysing and reporting on business data. Through this experience, she gained deep insight into the operations and provides practical advice to help businesses thrive.

She is passionate about the numbers and loves the IT side of things.

She is a member of CPA and AICD.

Gary Mace – Certified Occupational Hygienist

Gary is a Certified Occupational Hygienist and Licensed Asbestos Assessor with more than 22 years of experience in occupational hygiene and a further 11 years’ experience in water quality and treatment. He has worked in heavy industry and coal mining for more than three decades and has a strong focus on providing education to a variety of workplaces and industries.

Gary has extensive knowledge and experience in specific occupational hygiene work covering dust sampling (respirable and inhalable), diesel particulate, VOC’s, PAH’s, Isocyanates, welding fume, noise surveys and dosimetry and gas monitoring.

Matthew McKay – National Practice Manager (Occupational Hygiene)

Matthew is a part of our Senior Management Team and leads our Occupational Hygiene Practice. He is a Full Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (MAIOH) and is a Certified Occupational Hygienist.

Matthew started out as a Licenced Asbestos Assessor with PRA in 2017 and progressed into a well-respected occupational hygienist with expertise in asbestos, inhalable/respirable dusts, Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), isocyanates, formaldehyde, heavy metals (e.g. lead), exhaust emissions, heat stress and noise.

He has been an integral part of the establishment of the Respirable Crystalline Silica Laboratory at PRA. He maintains high standards in the workplace and leads his team by example. He ensures his team is up-to-date with legislation changes and training.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science (Climate Science) and a Master of Work Health and Safety (Occupational Hygiene). He is skilled in developing and implementing practical occupational hygiene frameworks and has experience in construction, demolition, tunnelling, quarrying and resources.

Stuart Rowley – National Practice Manager (Hazmat)

Stuart is a part of our Senior Management Team and leads our Hazmat Practice. He plays a major role in the strategic direction of PRA and his leadership skills ensure his teams are motivated and deliver quality service.

Stuart is a Licensed Asbestos Assessor with over 20 years extensive experience in asbestos sampling surveying, property risk audits, occupational hygiene and health and safety. He has a thorough understanding of State and National asbestos and WHS legislation and has consulted in Australia and overseas.

Michael Fernandez – Regional Practice Manager (Environmental)

Michael is a seasoned Regional Manager in Environmental and Occupational Hygiene with over 20 years’ experience. He is adept at leading and mentoring teams of consultants and overseeing major projects to ensure consistent quality.

Michael is a Certified Environmental Practitioner and a Licensed Asbestos Assessor.

He specialises in occupational hygiene assessments, contaminated land assessments (PSI and DSI) and remediation, waste classification and management as well as asbestos/hazardous material assessment and management.

Kerrin Alamango – National Laboratory Manager

With a career spanning over 40 years, Kerrin brings a wide variety of Laboratory experience from different industries. Her responsibilities encompass quality control, quality assurance, along with management of laboratory, research and training.

Kerrin has extensive experience as a NATA Accredited Analyst and Signatory in the sampling and analysis of Airborne Asbestos Fibres by phase contrast microscopy; Gravimetric dusts including Inhalable Dust, Respirable Dust, Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) and Bulk Silica by Infrared Spectroscopy and X-ray Diffraction; and Bulk Asbestos Identification Analysis by polarised light microscopy of soils, ore, dusts and building materials.

Kerrin holds a Master of Science (Occupational Hygiene Practice) (MSc OHP) and is a full member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (MAIOH). Kerrin is a NATA Technical Assessor and has published various papers with AIOH: ‘Have you got your head in the sand? Respirable Crystalline Silica Exposures of Restoration Stonemasons’; ‘Introduction to Asbestos’ and ‘Asbestos in Soil Remediation’.

Kerrin is also a Principal Occupational Hygienist and a Licensed Asbestos Assessor with more than 20 years’ experience.
